SACRED PLACES
All
places on the planet are sacred. Because Gaia,
the Great Earth Mother is home, host, mother and Goddess to us all, therefore
there is sacredness attached to her complete form, that of the Earth. Yet
there are places which throughout history have acquired the lable "sacred"
because of the things that have happened there, (sightings of angels, guides
and etheric forms). Perhaps they carry a lineage of "sacred"
structures such as the pyramids of Egypt, central and south America, the
ruins of Manchu Pechu, or the standing stones of the Brithish Isles. They
may be churches (Chartes cathedral, the Vatican) built upon the ruins of
Temples
(Delphi),
built where once a "sacred"
grove or shrine once stood. Or maybe the area holds a certain energy, a
vibration (akin to the vortices in Sedona, Arizona, or the circle at Stonhenge)
which can be felt by certain sensitive individuals or in some cases by
most people who visit this place. Perhaps the "sacredness" appears
in the native forms and contours of "her" body, the peaks and
valleys (Mt. Shasta, Mt Tamalpais Ca., Mana Kai Hi, Ayers Rock in Australia).
Although I will no longer live on Maui (after September 15th, 1998) I leave this page here as my tribute to Mother Maui where I lived for 6 years. Soon I will find more sacred places in my new San Francisco bay area home. Until then enjoy the pictures that follow.
Maui is a place of extreme beauty and extreme diversity. For this reason alone we might refer to her as sacred. Although Maui is the name of the Hawaiian demi-God who captured and held the sun, all who live here acknowledge the fact that she is indeed feminine in nature. Look at any map of the island and you will see the fair lady with proud bosom and her hair piled high. She (like the Goddess) is a lady with many faces and many guises.
At her highest
peak, Haleakala (The House of the Sun) she awaits, open above the clouds.
Miles of emptyness extend in her vast crater. She will receive the adventurous,
the hardy and those prepared to experience her harsher aspects of heat
and cold and wind.
And her secret self, her
inner core lies veiled in the mists of Iao Valley,
like a maiden with legs spread awaiting her secret lover.

The purity of her nature shows forth in her many constantly flowing water falls, always renewing, her life blood flowing.

In the clarity of the skies. |

At other times radiant |

There is balance in all things.
